THANK YOU
ONSIX GALLERY (June, 2004 - September, 2006)

Onsix Gallery would like to thank the amazing people we have had the opportunity to work with over the past few years, especially Angel Cruz for allowing us to operate within Club 6. The Bay Area is truly a unique place, full of life and creativity, and we could not have had a better experience.

Onsix Gallery was a curatorial project in which Club 6, a San Francisco nightclub, was transformed monthly into a cross-disciplinary art space between June, 2004 and September, 2006.

Founded in 2004 by Chris Fitzpatrick, Sham Saenz and Lindsey Byrnes, Onsix Gallery’s unusual exhibition model was developed to circumvent San Francisco’s high rent while exposing relatively unknown Bay Area contemporary artists to an excitable art scene of young art enthusiasts, emerging artists, curators, collectors, and performers of all ages and genres. Although Onsix Gallery placed a heavy emphasis on promoting local artists, the gallery’s programming regularly featured national and international artists and musicians.

Opening receptions at Onsix Gallery were often attended by as many as one thousand people, drawn to the integration of solo and group art exhibitions with live music, film premieres, and experimental dance performances. Many Onsix Gallery shows were collaborative, such as Conflated, for which photographers were asked to choose other artists to paint or draw on their photographs, We’re Not Dead, a benefit art auction for the San Francisco’s Needle Exchange and Homeless Youth Alliance, and Labyrinth, an annual group exhibition and art-walk in collaboration with Steven Wolf Fine Arts, the Luggage Store Gallery, Red Ink Studios, and Art Engine Gallery.

Onsix Gallery was located at 60 Sixth Street in San Francisco, CA. In September of 2006, after over twenty exhibitions and events, it was decided to dissolve Onsix Gallery and focus on other projects.
